Newmarket golfers have raised more than £11,000 for three local charities.
The money was collected by members through a variety of fundraising events held throughout last year and the Links club 2013 captains, Brian Allen and Sarah Greenall, presented the cheques on their behalf. The charities to benefit were Centre 33, Newmarket Day Centre and St Nicholas Hospice Care which all provide support to local people and their families in the Newmarket area.
Hospice community fundraiser Miranda McCoy, said: “As a charity the hospice relies on the support of the local community it serves, so I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who contributed to this donation.”
And Juliet Snell, director of Centre 33 said “The young carers we work with give their time and energy to provide care for someone in their family. They often miss out on things other young people take for granted. The support of Newmarket Links Golf Club will allow us to give more fun and exciting experiences for these deserving young people.”
