Five more people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a man in Burwell on New Year’s Day.
Four men were arrested in Cornwall and a woman in Surrey yesterday (Thursday) in connection with the murder of Jess Smith who died after sustaining a gunshot wound to the back of his chest following an incident in First Drove.
Three of the men aged 42,19 and 17 were arrested in the Looe area of Cornwall at around 8pm, while the other man aged 27 was arrested in the Redruth area at around 2.30pm.
The woman, who is aged 38, was arrested at an address in Chertsey at about 9.30pm.
All five were detained on suspicion of murder will be brought to Cambridgeshire later today.
A 57-year-old man from Burwell arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm earlier this week has been bailed until February 3. An inquest was opened and adjourned into Mr Smith’s death on Wednesday.
