Pupils from Newmarket’s Laureate Primary have starred in their own film showcasing their hopes and dreams.
The 17-minute premiere of the movie called Today’s Dreams, Tomorrow’s Reality, was part of the Exning Road school and nursery’s first Parents’ Launch event which was attended by 70 parents.
It was produced by learning mentor Ricki Slowe, and also included pupils identifying what they would need to do to achieve their dreams and the support they would need from their parents and teachers.
Also included was an information session on the new National Curriculum, displays of the school’s recent investments, a summary of the school’s priorities for the coming year, and a list of the top ten things that parents and carers could do at home to help their children reach their goals.
Head teacher David Perkins, said, “We were delighted with the turn out, having put a great deal of time and energy into encouraging parents to come along via letters, posters and even a Facebook campaign.
“The feedback was extremely positive, especially in relation to the movie, with passion and inspiration being two of the most frequently used words on the evaluation forms completed by parents.”
