EastEnders episode penned by Fordham author

TONIGHT'S episode of the popular BBC series EastEnders has been penned by a former member of Nomads, Newmarket's amateur drama group.

Laura Watson, who has written and performed with the King's Theatre's Nomads group, has already written and script edited around 50 episodes of the award-winning BBC series.

Mrs Watson, who lives in Fordham and has also written for the Saturday night medical drama Casualty, said she was excited about tonight's episode, which will see Roxy's plans for an intimate date with Dr Al Jenkins ruined when it is gate-crashed by Sam, Ricky, Ronnie and Joel.

And the drama will continue as Christian and Syed talk about their relationship.

"You never know how the actors are going to deliver your script," said Mrs Watson.

"It will be a combination of nerves and excitement."

Mrs Watson has also held several group coaching sessions on scriptwriting for Newmarket teenagers.

Another class is expected to take place in January.

EastEnders airs tonight on BBC One at 8pm.
