Members of Newmarket’s Bill Tutte Club were given some pointers on how to build a drone by their guest speaker earlier this month.
In his presentation, Thinking Machines, Alister Brain, research scientist at IBM, introduced the young inventors to some of the fundamental technologies and techniques needed to build and operate unmanned aerial vehicles.
Asked what he liked best about the session, 11-year-old George Wood, said: “The white drone, when he flew it around. I thought ‘Wow I’ve had my photo taken by one of those.’”
The Bill Tutte Club is open to children in Years 5, 6, 7 and 8 and meets once a month at Newmarket Academy. For more information go to http://billtuttememorial.org.uk/bill-tutte-club/
