A campaign to replace the ageing skatepark in Burwell has progressed with a crowdfunding bid now launched.

Max Jamieson, 26, of Burwell, has been campaigning for its renewal for about six months, and is now looking to raise £5,000 in the community which he believes will unlock more pots of money to help fund the project which is expected to cost up to £80,000.

Max said: “I believe once we raise £5,000, along with what I have done already, this will hopefully stand out to potential funders.”

The skatepark, at the recreation ground, is described as being “barely ridable” to skaters today.

Max has surveyed the village for its opinion on a new skatepark, including via social media and online petitions and has seen huge support which has led him to take it further.

He has also started up a clothing line for skaters, the profits from which will help fund the new skatepark.

“So far we have raised £646, so a big thank you to everyone that has donated so far.”
