Police say a man who failed to return to a low security hospital ward, last week has been recaptured in Fornham St Martin.
John Gladstone, aged 34, was on ‘town leave’ from the hospital in Foxhall Road, Ipswich, leaving at 7.30am on conditions to return to the unit by 3.30pm on Tuesday November 1, which he failed to do.
Yesterday, police released CCTV pictures of him in Thetford and said they were called by a member of the public at about 8.20am this morning, reporting seeing a man matching Gladstone’s description walking along the A134 between Culford and Fornham St Martin. He was then seen to walk across a field towards some woods.
Hew was detained about an hour later.
Gladstone is currently subject to a detention under Sections 47/49 of the Mental Health Act and is on a life licence following conviction for the offences of robbery and possession of a firearm.
He has links to the Suffolk Coastal area, South Norfolk, Northamptonshire and the West Midlands.
Police thank members of the public and media for their help in tracing him.
