Police appeal after motorcycle thefts

POLICE are appealing for information after motorbikes worth several thousand pounds were stolen from homes across the Mildenhall area.

Between Sunday and Tuesday police received reports of five machines being taken from properties in Mildenhall, Lakenheath, and RAF Lakenheath.

A Suzuki GSXR600 was reported stolen from Amis Court, Lakenheath, between Sunday evening and the following morning while, during the same period, a green Kawasaki was taken from outside a house in Gonville Close in Mildenhall.

Thieves then struck at three different properties in RAF Lakenheath between Monday evening and Tuesday morning.

Thieves stole a Hyosung GT60 from Hawthorn Lane, a Suzuki GSXR 600 from Whitewood Walk and a Kawasaki ZX 600 from a property in Spruce Close.

“We would like to remind all motorcycle owners to make sure their vehicles are locked to immovable objects and, wherever possible, inside garages or at least in a very well-lit area,” said Inspector Neil Ireland, of the Forest Heath Safer Neighbourhood Team.

“Officers are making inquiries to identify and target offenders and we would be keen to hear from anyone who has seen people in the area acting suspiciously with or around any motorcycles.”

Anyone with information should contact Sergeant Phil Payne at the Mildenhall Safer Neighbourhood Team on 101.
