Forest Heath District Council is attempting to make up some of the £1.1 million worth of savings it has to make next year by marketing a bus station.

Business and community groups are being offered the chance to operate from Mildenhall Bus Station as part of a new commercial approach being rolled out by FHDC to try and bring in some extra rental income.

It is also hoped by officials at the council that by offering groups and business the chance to run out of the King’s Street site that it will reduce the cost of the building to the taxpayer.

“Thousands of visitors use the two bus stations each year-these are all potential business customers or clients of a new community project which could come in and operate at the bus station,” said Robin Millar, FHDC cabinet member for families and communities.

“We want to hear from businesses, individuals or groups who see this potential to raise money and offer their services more widely.

“We are very keen to hear their ideas and work with them to develop the right proposal.”

Any group that has an interest in running from the site should email Davina.howes@westsuffolk.gov.uk.
