St Louis named ‘school of the year’

A Newmarket school was named Primary School of the Year at a ceremony that recognised sporting stars across the country.

St Louis Primary School won the award at the 2012 Suffolk Sports Awards, held in Ipswich.

The school was described as an exceptionally popular school among pupils, parents and the community, enhanced by its commitment to PE and sport.

It exceeded all the criteria for the award by working with eight local sports clubs throughout the year, as well as organising the inaugural Festival of Sport, a celebration of sport to unite the Newmarket community.

The event was organised by Suffolk Sport in partnership with Suffolk County Council.

Mildenhall Fen Tigers were another local winner, who took home the Senior Team of the Year award for a successful 18 months in the British Speedway National League.

Meanwhile, nomination forms are now available for the 2012 Forest Heath Sports Awards. Call the council on 01638 719000 for more information.
