FORMER schoolteacher, Terry Parnell, died at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, on May 15. He was 78.
Born in Gelligaer, Wales, Mr Parnell came to this area in the late 1950s to take up teaching at Burwell Village College where he taught science and PE for many years.
Prior to this his National Service was carried out with the RAF where he was part of the gymnastics team.
He enjoyed pole vaulting along with gymnastics in his earlier years and later in life played golf and bowls.
Mr Parnell is survived by his wife, Doreen, and leaves two daughters, Judith and Alison, a son, David, and nine grandchildren, Scott, Aaron, Kathleen, Nicholas, Louise, Craig, Chris, Abigail and Bethany.
His funeral took place at St Mary’s Church, Burwell, on May 23 and the Rev David King officiated.
