Douglas (Doug) Everitt, of Barry Lynham Drive, Newmarket, died at St Nicholas Hospice Care, Bury St Edmunds, on December 4, 2012. He was 80 and had been ill for 18 months.
Born in Cheveley, he attended the village school before further education at Cambridge Technical College.
A domestic service engineer by trade, he had lived in Kirtling for 54 years before spending the last three in Newmarket.
He had many interests including bowls, aircraft, reading, socialising, holidays, outings, weekends away and going to variety shows.
Mr Everitt is survived by his wife, Jean, and leaves a daughter, Janet, and a grandson, Robert.
His funeral was held at West Suffolk Crematorium, Risby, on December 11 and the Rev Graham Locking officiated.
