Organisers of St Mary’s Church fete at Cheveley are delighted to have raised around £4,900 at the event.

The proceeds will help to maintain the medieval church.

The event was held on May 10 and 385 attendees enjoyed attractions including a dog show, traditional games and stalls and a visit by police, the East Anglian Air Ambulance and Newmarket Lions.

Children from Cheveley primary school staged a gymnastics display and there was music from Newmarket Town Band and dancing from Hageneth Morris. Rev Philip Tait awarded the prizes for the art competition on the theme of Peace.
