Newmarket’s next Jobs and Apprenticeship Fair in the town on March 20 aims to bring together business and those looking for work or a career change.

West Suffolk MP Matthew Hancock, local business and Newmarket Job Centre Plus are staging the event at Newmarket Academy between 10am and 12.30pm.

Seminars will be run on CV writing, preparing for interviews and tips on finding jobs and apprenticeships.

Mr Hancock, Minister of State for Business, Enterprise and Energy, said: “I am thrilled to be holding my sixth consecutive jobs fair in the constituency. I am proud that unemployment continues to fall and we now have a record number of people in work.

“But while there are any unemployed people in West Suffolk we must work hard to support them, and always work to support young people to get the best start in life.”

Graham Abbey, chairman of Newmarket and District Chamber of Commerce, said connections between local business and education had greatly improved over the past few years. ”Both have the same goal. We don’t want to see good quality students who go away to university not come back here.”
