Clubs and organisations in Soham have all received donations from the proceeds of this year’s town carnival.
Kim Botting, one of the organisers, said after expenses around £5,000 had been spilt between a host of local groups. The largest donations of £1500 each went to the Soham First Responders and the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
At a special presentation evening held last month at Soham Town Rangers in Julius Martin Lane, the cash was distributed to representatives of 18 local groups. They included the Soham Royal British Legion, the Over 60s Club, Action for Youth, Soham Bowls Club, Soham Town Colts, Soham Holiday Playscheme and the Soham History Group. Mr Botting, who has been involved in the organisation of the carnival for the past 17 years, said the committee was keen to hear from anyone who would like to get involved in future events.
“We have a committee meeting on October 21 at 7.30pm at the football club and would welcome any newcomers,” he said.
