Study and conference centre Burwell House has celebrated its 50th birthday
Built in the late 1700s, the house was bought by Cambridgeshire County Council in 1964 for £15,000 and opened a year later following extensive refurbishment. Today it plays host to a variety of residential and non-residential courses for children, young people and adults including the Year 3 pupils from Swaffham Prior Primary School pictured. Facilities include seminar rooms, a conservatory, a television studio and a craft studio and three acres of gardens with an orchard, meadows, a wildlife pond and several sculptures.
