Detectives are linking a Newmarket burglary with four similar incidents in Bury St Edmunds.
Four of the break-ins took place during the day on Friday and all involved forced entry.
Thieves targeted a house in Newmarket’s Edinburgh Road between 1.50pm and 2.30pm smashing the glass in a rear patio door to get in and stealing a quantity of jewellery.
They were disturbed when a witness contacted police to report seeing suspicious activity at the property.
Officers were immediately dispatched, but the thieves got away by climbing out of an upstairs bedroom window and running into Drinkwater Close, where they are believed to have driven-off in a black BMW 640. They are described as three white men wearing baseball caps.
Three of Bury St Edmunds incidents took place the same day and the fourth between Thursday and Saturday. Anyone with information about these burglaries is asked to call 101 quoting reference NE/15/1008.
