Bake Off’s Ian Cumming’s cake will be star attraction at Ely fair

Ian Cumming, who finished runner-up in The Great British Bake Off will be bringing his baking skills to

Ely Cathedral’s Christmas Gift and Food Fair next month to help terminally sick children.

The father-of-two from Great Wilbraham has agreed to put all his creative and baking skills to bake a Christmas cake which will be sold at the event and will be made in a special mould Ian has made himself.

Well over 100 cakes are made by baking enthusiasts, supporters and local personalities to be sold at in aid

of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

Organisers at the cathedral are delighted to the support of the star baker’s who will be presenting his cake in person at the preview evening which is on November 12 from 6.30-9.00pm with the main event on November 13 and 14.

“We have had some truly amazing cakes presented for the Christmas cake sale and the standard gets more impressive and more competitive every year. Ian realises he has his work cut out and we are really grateful he has agreed to take part. His cake will certainly be one of the star attractions,” said the cathedral’s director of communications Lesley Ann Thompson.

Over 150 stalls will be located inside the medieval cathedral with additional attractions including cooking and floristry demonstrations, vintage carousel rides and reindeer. Ian will be bringing his cake in person at the preview evening which is on 12th November from 6.30-9.00pm.
