A trust which runs nine academies in East Anglia is consulting staff about changes that could lead to 32 redundancies.

The Academy Transformation Trust runs Mildenhall College and Great Heath Academies in Mildenhall, Admirals, Diamond and Norwich Road Academies in Thetford, the Iceni Academies in Hockwold and Methwold, Nicholas Hamond Academy in Swaffham and Westbourne Academy in Ipswich.

Ian Cleland, Academy Transformation Trust chief executive, said he wanted to explain the reasons for beginning consultation on ‘a restructure of support staff roles’ at the academies.

He said that as funding is reduced pupils must be their priority.

He added: “Therefore we are proposing to address this through realising efficiencies by regionalising HR, Finance and Estates services across the trust and the trust board has approved this proposal for consultation with trade unions and staff.

“This could affect up to 108 staff across The Trust with a potential 32 redundancies.

“We recognise that this is a difficult time for many of our staff. We are working to minimise job losses wherever possible and we are making every effort to support staff through these changes.”
