FORMER champion trainer Henry Cecil will be at Dalham on Sunday to open the first fete to be held in the village for many years.
The event is being held to raise funds to pay for a new village hall, which is expected to cost in the region of £150,000.

The original hall was built in 1902 by Francis Rhodes in memory of his brother Cecil, the famous statesman and MP, who once owned the Dalham Hall estate.

Villagers applied for a Lottery grant to cover the cost of a new hall but were turned down and now have to find the cash themselves.

Sunday's fete, which will include stalls, games and sideshows, is due to start at 2pm and will be held at Barrow Hill House in Denham Road.
