THE Leader of Newmarket's Safer Neighbourhood Team has left after a year in the role.
Sgt Jo Garrard has moved to Suffolk Police's headquarters at Martlesham where she will become staff officer to the deputy and assistant police constables.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in Newmarket and have formed some excellent working relationships," she said.

Sgt Garrard helped launch the new teams and has been at the forefront of a number of schemes, including the free running parkour initiative.

She will be replaced by acting Sgt Lee Sampher, who said he was looking forward to his new position.

"I am a Newmarket person so I have a strong bond with the local community," he said. "I intend to carry on the excellent work of Sgt Garrard and Newmarket SNTs."
