A NEW store has announced it is to open in the Newmarket High Street premises left empty following the collapse of Woolworths six months ago.
Retailer QD Stores Ltd has announced it is to start trading in the town next month creating 25 new jobs.
A major refurbishment of the 16,500 sq ft store will be carried out over the coming weeks.
The company, which has recently opened stores
in Beccles, North Walsham, Wellingborough and Boston, is holding an open day on Wednesday July 22 between 10am and 6pm at the White Hart Hotel in Newmarket for prospective staff.
Interviews will then be held over two recruitment days July 23 and July 24.
Similar events in Wellingborough and Boston attracted almost
2,.500 people eager to find jobs.
The Newmarket store will sell discounted product lines including well known brands and fashion labels.
The group is an independently owned chain located primarily throughout the East of England and the Home Counties and is currently implementing a a programme of expansion across the country.
Managing director Justin Farrington-Smith said: "This is the fifth in a quick succession of stores over the past few weeks.
"Apart from the obvious benefits these new stores bring to the local community in terms of creating jobs, boosting the recession-hit high street and attracting more custom to many businesses in the surrounding area it's some good news to report amidst the pervading gloom."
