FORMER music company boss Simon Bazalgette has been appointed chief executive of the Jockey Club.
Mr Bazalgette, 46, is executive chairman of Racing UK, the media rights management company and television channel owned by 30 British racecourses, and chairman of Racecourse Media Services.

He was a founder director and chief executive of Music Choice Europe.

The Jockey Club, which owns Newmarket's two racecourses as well as the National Stud at and thousands of acres of gallops and training grounds around the town, has not previously had a chief executive.

Mr Bazalgette is expected to take up his new role in September.
