NEWMARKET golfers have raised £14,000 for their chosen charities.
Links Golf Club captain David Hole and women's captain Jackie Casburn presented cheques for £7,000 to each of their selected charities – The Stroke Association and The Oncology Centre at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge.

Funds were raised by a women's Texas Scramble competition and a charity day held at the golf club in May, which attracted over 185 golfers from across East Anglia.

Local companies sponsored holes on the course and cash was raised from the captain's barbecue and various challenges dotted around the golf course.

"All sections of the club pulled together to make Charity Day a great success," said club captain David Hole.

"I would like to thank our main sponsors, The Camelot Foundation, who donated £2,500 to each of our charities and everyone who gave so generously in support of the event.

"I think it's brilliant that the club's members had a really enjoyable day and raised such a significant sum of money for our charities."
