CHILDREN at a village primary school have been getting to grips with nature by taking part in a mulching execerise in Snailwell.
Pupils from Fordham Primary School visted Snail Wood, which is owned by the Horse Racing Forensic Laboratory, to mulch 30 alder trees that they planted at the start of the school year.

Year 4 teacher Natalie Harvey said: "This is the second year we have done this and we have now planted around 60 trees to help recreate a native woodland.

"It's already beginning to look like a proper woodland - there are trees and flowers everywhere."

Links betweeen the school and HFL began in 2006 when the 0.6-hectare site was felled of its popular trees to make way for native species.
