HUNDREDS of pupils and staff, past and present, are expected to attend today's remembrance concert for St Felix Middle School, which was destroyed in an arson attack four weeks ago.
The event has been organised to celebrate the life of the Newmarket school and will take place at the town's famous Tattersalls sales ring.

Pupils have been asked to wear their uniforms to create a sea of red, while there will be a photowall for visitors to add their own memories.

"The essence of the service is on regeneration and building upon the strengths of the school community," said Melanie Davies, joint head of English.

"It's about coming together to comfort each other as we prepare to move on with renewed energy and a positive image of how we will shape the school in the future."

Readings will also be conducted from pupils who were at the school when it opened in the 1970s, as well as from current students.

"Obviously we have lost everything," said music teacher Tracey Botwright.

"But staff are looking forward to the concert despite what has happened - we are feeling very positive."

Refreshments will be provided at the end with a chance for staff, students and ex-students to share their memories of the school.

Anyone is welcome to attend the concert, which starts at 3pm, but they should contact the main sponsors, Factotum, on 0845 6349178.
