TWO benefit cheats have been fined by magistrates after they admitted claiming more than £6,000 they were not entitled to.
Suzanne Harding, 42, of Clare Close, Mildenhall, did not tell Forest Heath Council when she received around £41,000 in a divorce settlement.
According to a council statement, she carried on claiming housing and council tax benefit totalling £4,218. She was fined £500 with £200 costs.
Meanwhile, Wendy Foley, 48, of Carnation Way, Red Lodge, continued claiming housing and council tax benefit when she started working.
Mildenhall Magistrates' Court heard she was only working part-time and did not expect the job to become permanent but she did not declare the work even though she was specifically asked about it.
Foley was overpaid a total of £2,252. She was fined £300 and told to pay £200 costs.
