SIX luxury cars and a warehouse belonging to a limousine company in Burwell have been destroyed by fire.
Dream Limos in Factory Road was savaged by a fierce blaze yesterday afternoon.

The custom cars, which included stretched Hummer SUVs and Chryslers, are estimated to cost more than £70,000 each.

Four fire engines from Burwell, Soham and Newmarket arrived at the scene just after 4.30pm and managed to prevent the fire spreading to the company's main office building.

A spokesman for Suffolk Fire and Rescue, who was at the scene, said: "It was a well developed fire by the time crews turned up.

"There were lots of plumes of thick black smoke which you would associate with cars because of all the plastic."

One Burwell resident said smoke from the fire could be seen from nearly three miles away.

It is thought the fire could have been caused by a battery charger. A full investigation has been launched.
