A CHEVELEY businessman is offering a £10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of thieves who stole thousands of pounds worth of jewellery and personal items from his home.
Michael Bloor, chairman of specialist glazing company GR3, said he was so shocked by the theft that he was seriously thinking of moving to London where he has a flat.

Mr Bloor's home was one of three targeted by thieves on Saturday, April 26, and
police are not ruling out a link between the raid and similar recent thefts from the homes of jockeys Michael Hills and Frankie Dettori.

Now Mr Bloor is calling for a group to be set up so burglary victims can try to prevent thieves from striking again.

"The only way to catch them is to become more pro-active. Someone is needed to speak up about these incidents. This was my one fear of moving out into the countryside after I heard stories of other properties being burgled," said Mr Bloor.

And he said if police officers had not had to come all the way from Ely once they were alerted to the thefts, they might have caught the thieves.

The burglaries all took place between 8pm-11pm with thieves entering each of the houses through ground floor windows.

It was Cheveley's Neighbourhood Watch warden who raised the alarm after the thieves were spotted leaving Mr Bloor's property carrying a black bag before driving away in a silver saloon car.

PC Phil Grime, of Cambridgeshire Police burglary squad, said: "The burglars are targeting unalarmed premises and stealing relatively portable items. It would be fair to say that it is possible there is a link between the burglaries."

Anyone who has any information about the thefts should contact Pc Grimes on 01223 823227.

Anyone who has been the victim of a similar burglary can email Mr Bloor at mab.newmarket@hotmail.com.
