MEMBERS of Mildenhall in Bloom celebrated five years of hard work on Monday when they officially handed over a new set of street furniture.
The group, made up of volunteers, raised more than £25,000 to help purchase seven new benches, eight new planters and 11 new litter bins for Mildenhall town centre.

On top of running several fundraising activities, the group received grants from Suffolk County Council, Forest Heath Council, Mildenhall Parish Council and Lottery-based group Awards For All.

Maureen Kowalyk, chairman of Mildenhall in Bloom, said: "We are very, very pleased that the street furniture project has finished as it will brighten up the town for both residents and visitors."

Despite handing over the furniture to the parish council, members of the group will continue to look after the flowers in the new planters.
