VILLAGERS in Red Lodge have received some welcome support in their fight against the construction of a new truck stop.
Tory MP Richard Spring visited the village to express his concerns over proposals by Upton Suffolk Farms to relocate the existing truck stop from Turnpike Road to a site north of the A11.

He said: "I think the project needs some consideration before anything can go ahead. With no link road between the A11 and A14, I am very concerned that many villages could become very congested."

Mr Spring also raised concerns about the the absence of any official enforcement about HGV movement in the villages affected and the lack of duelling on the A11 between Barton Mills and Thetford.

Last month, a host of villagers gathered at the Turnpike Road site to demonstrate against the plans, making it clear a new truck stop should be re-located away from the village and closer to the A14.
