BBC Look East presenter Susie-Fowler-Watt was on hand to officially re-open Lakenheath village hall on Wednesday.
Around 160 guests including sponsors, donors and local councillors packed the hall to see the presenter cut the ribbon and unveil a plaque to mark the re-opening of the 86-year-old building.

Peter Shepherd, a former treasurer of the hall's trustees, said: " It is like a new hall within the shell of an existing building."

The refurbishments, which have been going on at the hall for the past three years, include a new kitchen, heating system, toilets and bar along with the complete redecoration of the hall.

To help foot the bill for the works, grants were received from a number of organistions including Lloyds TSB, Suffolk County Council and the Big Lottery Fund.

The building, which is regularly used by a line dancing group and the amateur dramatic society, last underwent a similar programme 30 years ago.
