Town craft market attracts 20 stalls
MORE than 20 pitches have been snapped up for a craft market in Newmarket on Saturday.
The event will be the first in what traders hope will be a series of themed market days to be held on the Market Square.
Market trader Andy Neal organised the event as a way of increasing footfall to the beleagured market and boosting town trade.
It will be held alongside the existing market between 8am and 3pm.
Mr Neal said: “It is hoped that with a thaw for the weekend that the craft market will be well attended by the public.
“Over 20 craft stalls have applied for pitches, as well as the existing market stalls, so the market place should be a hive of activity.
“The crafts on display are of extreme variety and are sure to be of great interest to everyone.”
He added: “The market traders would like to thank the local press for their support with what is a planned programme of events designed to bring some focus back on to Newmarket market and the town’s retail in general.
“The traders on the market welcome everyone to what is hoped will be an enjoyable day for all.”
