THE curtain goes up on Young Nomads’ latest production at Newmarket’s King’s Theatre on Monday.

Happiest Days of Our Lives by John Dighton was first performed in 1948 and is set at the end of the Second World War when the pupils and teachers of a south coast girls’ boarding school are relocated after their school is bombed.

Thanks to a bureaucratic mix-up, they end up sharing the quarters of a boys’ school and the headmaster and headmistress, together with both sets of teachers, try to keep visiting parents from discovering the dilemma as the whole thing turns into a battle of the sexes.

Directed by Wallace Wareham, the show runs until Saturday, February 18, with performances at 7.30pm.

Tickets £10 with £8 concessions on Monday only.
