Why drivers cannot use one of the car parks astounds me

WITH reference to the article "Police crack down on illegal parking" (Journal, May 22), I fail to see the relevance of the OAP's parking fine.
If people do not want to get fined then don't park on double yellow lines.

My wife and I are both pensioners and regularly use either Sainsbury's car park or the Jubilee car park when shopping in Mildenhall. My wife has reduced mobility but does not park illegally at any time.

Parking is free in Mildenhall and there is plenty of it outside the busiest hours on a Friday so one would think that there would be little need to park in St Andrews Street at any time, particularly as the road is very restricted and the likelihood of people, especially children and mothers with push-chairs, coming out from between parked cars is very high and exceedingly dangerous.

Why drivers have to park outside the shops and cannot walk the very short distance from one of the car parks astounds me.
