IN response to Cllr Terry Waters' letter (Journal, June 12), how does he have the audacity to state, and I quote: "I would like to stick up for those on the planning committee who, in my experience, always do their very best to support the wishes of the people who elected them."
If that was the case, how come plans for the Market Square were passed against the wishes of the people?

The only conclusion I came to was that the councillors on the planning committee were not elected representatives of the people of Newmarket.
