Published Date: 21 August 2008
ON FRIDAY my wife and I attended the evening race meeting at the July Course followed by the Boyzone concert.
A great evening’s racing topped by the one and only Boyzone brought a large crowd (22,000) as you would expect. Congratulations Newmarket Nights.

Once the concert ended all of these people had to leave the car parks – what a complete and utter farce.

Where were all the car park attendants? They are there when you go in. Police – I saw two of them. There was absolutely no control which resulted in something like 15 lanes of traffic trying to get out of one exit. This was not helped by taxis and limos coming in to pick up their fares.

One and three-quarter hours later we got out of the gates.

It seems that once you are in Newmarket Nights, they consider it’s job done and it’s up to you how you get out.

If you want to attract large crowds, then you have to improve how they get out – or lose some of the crowd.
