Rules should also apply to horses

I WAS interested to read the correspondence about dogs on the heath, especially from William Gittus.
While I wholeheartedly agree that dog owners should be responsible and adhere to the rules, this should also apply to horse riders.

I live adjacent to the main horse walk in town and have, for a long time, frequently seen a well-known trainer ride his horse off the horse walk and along a footpath which leads to two schools.

A year ago, I rang Mr Gittus about this to see if there was anything he could do. He said he couldn't and gave the impression that he wasn't interested.

I then rang the police, who I know spoke to the said trainer, but unfortunately he ignored them and has carried on regardless.

Surely, Mr Gittus must agree that if the public is expected to act responsibly, we should also expect people on horses to do the same.

He said the heath is a training ground – well footpaths are for pedestrians.
