Please think of those who drive in town

HOW dreadful to read in last week's Journal that a young man had died on our town's roads.
Unfortunately, those who travel on Old Station Road may not be surprised.

The day before the accident, cars were parked right up to the corner on the Heath side, making it impossible to negotiate.

Whatever the cause of this particular crash, isn't it time we had some long-term parking in a town car park, not on the streets.

I feel for those who have to find a space somewhere. These people are not shoppers – as you will see at 5.30pm when they all leave their offices for their cars – but please think of us who have to live and drive in the town every day.

Surely money would be better spent on sorting out the parking problems than on the clock tower.

Then we may have a town that people want to come to shop and work in.
