Jewel in crown is not appreciated

I REALISE much has been said about the abomination at the top of the High Street, but herewith my four cents worth.
I discovered, while negotiating it, that a nasty kerb sticks out so far one is lucky to miss it.

I wonder how horse boxes, especially when local racing starts, are going to negotiate it without causing even worse congestion to say nothing of risk
ing harm to their cargoes.

It is only a matter of time before someone hits those odd-shaped balls. If there had to be something so large, then why not a horse?

Suffolk County Council does not appreciate this jewel in its crown. Newmarket is world renowned as a horse racing centre and should be respected as such.

FURTHER to the recent letters in the local press regarding the complete disaster that the county council has imposed on us at the clock tower and the adjoining road networks, I would agree that this appears to be a total waste of our money with no real benefit to the local community who, unlike the county council, are aware of the current recession.

I would also ask the question that if these balls were needed, could they not have been manufactured locally or within the UK?

It was evident from the onset that this would not be an improvement, but cause further congestion and inconvenience to the local community and the emergency services.

Thank goodness that Forest Heath saw fit to refuse the recent planning application for a 75-bedroom hotel that would have increased the traffic volume even more through this area.

I, like many others, wait to see the changes that are going to be needed to rectify this eyesore at even more expense.
