Council plans: Have your say
Published Date:

REGARDING plans for a unitary authority, there is a well-known expression "use it or lose it", something which applies now to every individual in respect of the Boundary Committee's proposals for Suffolk.
However, while everyone should take the opportunity to put forward their views, I would urge people to be quite clear about what they are writing and to whom.
The Boundary Committee has made it abundantly clear that continuing the status quo is not an option and people should be warned about pushing their own schemes.
Finally, if the chance comes to attend further meetings, please take it and ask questions.
CLLR JOHN BARKER
Mildenhall
Please can I make absolutely clear to anyone interested in the Boundary Committee's review of local government that there are two options to consider – a two authority option (an Ipswich and Felixstowe council and one for rural Suffolk) and a single unitary option.
To imply anything else is not only wrong but will mislead people into believing that they have no part to play in the democratic debate on this very important issue.
I believe a single council for Suffolk – instead of our existing eight councils – is best.
Cllr Jeremy Pembroke
Suffolk County Council
