Walter Miller

MANY family, friends and former colleagues turned out for the funeral of Walter Arthur Miller, of Ness Road, Burwell, who died at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, on July 16, aged 76.

Born and educated in Burwell, his National Service was spent with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.

As a mechanic by trade, in his earlier years he worked at Meredith and Drew, the old biscuit factory based on the outskirts of Fordham, and then for Turners (Soham) Limited, the local hauliers.

After this he became works engineer for Tillotson's box factory in Burwell for the next 40 years.

His hobbies included game shooting, gardening and DIY and around 15 years ago he trained and raced greyhounds at local arenas including Swaffham, in Norfolk.

Mr Miller is survived by his wife, Judy, and leaves two sons, Wayne and Ray, and grandson Nathan. He also leaves a sister, June.

His funeral took place at St Mary's Church, Burwell, on July 26 and the Rev Graham Locking and the Rev Dr Jenny Gage officiated.
