Students’ new mural celebrates Olympics

OLYMPIC fever has reached Mildenhall’s Dome Leisure Centre thanks to the efforts of a group of sixth-form students from the town.

After 38½ hours hard work, Sian Edgeworth, Becky Allsop and Hazel Taylor, all Year 12 pupils at neighbouring Mildenhall College of Technology, unveiled their display on the outside wall of the Bury Road leisure centre’s main hall, earlier this month.

The trio received the chance to create the Olympic-themed mural after winning an in-house art competition.

Jacqueline Vollenhoven, subject leader for art at the college, said: “The winning design really stood out from the start. Now it has been realised I am very proud. It has a professional finish and is a sign of the students’ hard work and dedication.”
