Soham rock band wins city music competition

A SOHAM rock band has scooped first prize in a Cambridge music competition.

Lady Gray won Fiverfest, a contest organised by city-based music venue The Junction, last Friday night.

The competition started in September with four heats of five bands and the winners were chosen by the audience, who had one vote each.

The Friday showdown included some of the Cambridge area’s most talented young bands.

Lady Gray won £200 in cash, a supporting slot at The Junction and two days of recording time at The Hub Sound Studios in Cambridge.

Lead singer Josh, who revealed the four-piece group had just secured a gig at the O2 Academy in Islington, said: “We felt it went really well. The quality of the bands was so high and we’re just so pleased to have won.”
