Sheila Phillips

THE funeral of Sheila Mary Phillips, of St Philips Road, Newmarket, took place at St Philip's Church in the town on December 14.

Mrs Phillips, who was 74, died at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, on December 5 after a short illness.

Born near Thetford, she worked on the Mildenhall air base in her earlier years, and later, for some 15 years or more, at Oliver's shoe shop in Newmarket High Street.

Along with her husband and family she enjoyed the motor cycling and speedway events at Mildenhall when she was younger.

Mrs Phillips is survived by her husband David, and leaves a son Clive, daughter Carol, and grandchildren Shaun, Nathan, Marie, Hannah and Kate.

The service was taken by the Rev Joyce Williams and family mourners were: David Phillips (widower), Clive Phillips, Carol Avis, Tim Darling, Debbie Russell, Shaun Avis, Marie Avis, Nathan Phillips and Hannah Phillips.

Other mourners were: Cicely Jolly, Bill Jolly, Mary Bowers (rep family), Mr and Mrs J Darling, Elsie Mutton, Gill Mutton, Pat Mutton, Sonia Seakins, Russell Mutton, John Mutton, Mr L Allington, Mr C Moss and Nick Smith.
