NEWMARKET JOURNAL - AUGUST 2011 (L-R)Clare Freeman and Catherine Wrench who are finalists in the Mumpreneur Awards

LOCAL mums and entrepreneurs, Clare Freeman and Catherine Wrench, have earned themselves a place in the final line- up for a national award aimed at parents who manage the difficult task of juggling business with family life.

Friends and neighbours in Swaffham Prior, Catherine and Clare have five children between them and also run the Out of School Alliance (OOSA), a national support organisation for providers of out of school clubs.

They launched OOSA in 2009 after discovering a need for advice and information specifically catering for people who are setting up or running breakfast clubs, after-school clubs and holiday clubs for children.

Clare and Catherine have been shortlisted for the best supporting business prize, which is open to businesses which provide an accessible support system to others, in The Mumpreneur Awards.

As well as being shortlisted for this category, they are also in with a chance of winning the title of The Inspirational Business Mum 2011, and could walk away with a prize package including a family holiday.

“We are thrilled to have been recognised for our achievements in supporting those providing out of school care, especially as this has tradionally been a much overlooked sector, and we’re really excited to find out whether we’ve won the award,” said Catherine.

Among the judges on a panel of top entrepreneurs is BBC Dragon, Duncan Bannatyne.

The winners will be announced on September 25, at The Mumpreneur Conference, which is being held at the Heart of England Conference Centre in Warwickshire.
