Memorial service for ex-trainer

A memorial service in Newmarket is being planned for former town trainer Jeremy Hindley, who died at his home in South Africa earlier this month, aged 69. He had suffered from motor neurone disease since 2001.

An amateur rider over jumps and assistant trainer to Sir Noel Murless and Tom Jones, he started out as a trainer at Kremlin House stables in 1971. In 1977 he bought Clarehaven Stables in Bury Road from David Robinson and in 1985 had one of his best winners when Huntingdale won the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes. Among the other good horses he trained were He Loves Me, Sin Timon, Crash Course, Cocaine and Coed Cochion.
