Gordon Pettitt

GORDON James Pettitt, of Newmarket Road, Cheveley, died at his home on November 29. He was 78.

Born in Cheveley, he attended the local school and by trade was a builder. Over the years he sub-contracted with several local builders before working for himself.

During the war years he served in Korea with the Norfolks.

He enjoyed gardening, and doing odd jobs to help people in and around the village, as well as watching snooker and football on television.

Mr Pettitt's wife Andre died in 2003. He leaves two daughters, Letty and Lorna, three grandchildren, Joe, Sasha and Faith, and a brother, David.

His funeral was held at West Suffolk Crematorium, Risby, on December 14 and the Rev Ann Gurner officiated.

Family and other mourners were: Letty and Michael Fisher, Joe Fisher, Kelvin and Doreen Pettitt (rep Amanda and Dean, and Wally), Robert, Steven and Terry Pettitt, Ben, James and John Pettitt, Nellie Pettitt, Trevor Worledge, Barbara and Tracey (Pat and Steve Hahn), Colin and Helen Pettitt (David, Barbara and Jane Pettitt), Sid and Joan Fisher (Susan and Linda), Jan Kearns, John White, Clifford White, Patrick White (Teresa), Ruth Wright, Kath Wright, Suzy Wright, Ed Curtis, Hazel Rolfe, Rosemary Foreman, Russell Foreman (Peter Fordham and Geraldine Carrigan), Betty Tweed, Mr and Mrs R Godfrey, Wendy and John Godfrey, Sylvia Wilson (Simon and Tim), Doug Everitt (Jean Everitt), Anita Everitt (Trevor and family), Maurice Everitt and family (Betty Coe), B Knights and family, Ian Forster, Paul Dixon (Caroline Dixon and family), Mr and Mrs J Reynolds, Mr W Aldous, and Sue and Clive Parnell.
