First birthday for RSPCA shop

STAFF and volunteers at the RSPCA charity shop in Newmarket celebrated its one-year anniversary with a specially-made cake.
Manager Lorna Jones said the Market Street shop’s first year in business had been a successful one.
She said: “It has gone very quickly and been very successful. We look forward to many more years like it.
“Our profits provide a substantial amount of money that we raise to keep the Cambridge RSPCA branch going. We would like to thank the people who have donated items.”
Last year, staff at the shop appealed for donations to fund new security equipment after a string of thefts and vandalism.
They have since bought new bolts to secure a door at the back of the shop.
