Edna Taylor

EDNA May Taylor, of Swaffham Road, Burwell, died at Newmarket Hospital, on June 17 after a short illness. She was 89.

Born in Ness Road, Burwell, she was educated at Ely High School for girls and worked as chief housing officer firstly for Newmarket Rural District Council then later East Cambridgeshire Council at Ely, retiring in 1978.

She moved from Ness Road to Swaffham Road when she married Kenneth Taylor in 1960.

A keen gardener, she had also in the past held a season ticket at Norwich City Football Club.

Widowed in 1975 when her husband died, she is survived by her sister Joyce Brown.

Her funeral was held at St Mary's Church, Burwell, and West Suffolk Crematorium, Risby, on June 29. The services were taken by the Rev David Bush and the organist was Richard Ayres.

Family mourners were: Joyce and Bryan Sangster (rep Joyce Brown), Patricia and Andrew Warrillow, Adrian and Carole Sangster (Stuart and Christopher), Chris Sangster (Peggy Sangster) and Jenny and Frank Sangster.

Other mourners were: Bert Cross, Emma Cross (Mark, Tara and Adam), Jessie Pritchett, Mr and Mrs E Yates, Florence Parish, Liz Rich, Mr and Mrs H Groodley, Sue Evans, Brenda Chapman, Doreen Couch, Jenny Taylor, Edna Nunn and Audrey Scott (Ian Scott).
